About Hugh McCormack

Hugh has worked in marketing and market research for most of his career. Cutting his teeth in London with Industrial Market Research (IMR) under Aubrey Wilson, he has worked for client side organisations and full-service agencies in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Norwich and Nottingham.

His full range of research experience includes B2C and FMCG, B2B and industrial, social and public sector research.

Born in Bristol, he is a graduate in Economics from Cardiff University.

He's also a fully paid up member of the Optimists Club: he's offering decent odds that Bristol City will survive the start to the current season to get to the Premiership in '12/13; England RFU will overcome their disappointment at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand; and is looking forward to all the good cricket England will play against the West Indies, South Africa and then its the Ashes again - here at Trent Bridge.

In 2012 he hopes to be donning the Olympic 'Gamesmaker' uniform to help out at the London 2012 Olympic Park - anything from ticket collection to crowd management.

He is married (to another market researcher) and has two children.

Fundraising

Hugh likes his sport and recreation and regularly challenges his office-bound physique to achieve things that were only a dream when he was younger; coastal sailing, long distance cycling, hill walking, downhill and cross country skiing, 'coasteering', river rafting, swimming & gyming.

In 2007 he completed the Coast to Coast bike ride with son Euan from Workington to Newcastle and also passed his RYA Practical Day Skipper at Plas Menai – both of which were slightly damp experiences!

In 2008 putting his pedals where his feet are, Hugh completed the 50 mile Great Nottingham Bike Ride (GNBR) raising funds for various Nottingham based charities. He then cycled 275 miles from London to Paris with 250 others raising funds for the Royal British Legion, finishing under the Arc de Triomphe after four days in the saddle.

In 2009, he repeated the GNBR 50 and followed it up with 350 miles from Paris to Geneva - over four days again, riding with 40 others, climbing up and over the Jura 'hills' en route, this time raising funds for Asthma UK.

In 2010, having completed the GNBR 75 mile 'Sportif', Etape Caledonian (81 miles around Loch Rannoch) Hugh rode 400 miles again with son Euan from Munich to Venice, via the Brenner Pass, over 4.5 days. Together they raised £1500 for the British Heart Foundation. Then, for the fun of it, he and the whole family rode 300 miles from Ho Chi Minh City, through the Mekong delta and up into Cambodia - a wonderfully eye-opening experience.

So far in 2011, he has completed an initially cold and windy ride from Munich to a very sunny Prague in April as well as the 78 mile GNBR and the 65 mile Galloway Sportives.

For 2012 if you're interested in taking part in future rides (which will feature the Etape Caledonian in aid of Macmillans and the GNBR again), supporting in some way or just wanting to hear more, please get in touch either via the Website (see 'Contact'), call Hugh on 0115 914 2887 or e-mail Hugh direct
